D3A1: First production version differed by having a larger powerplant and slightly smaller wings than the D3A.

D3A2: In 1942 the D3A2 was introduced, having a more powerful powerplant, and increased fuel capacity.

D3A2-K: In 1943 surviving D3A2s were converted to flight trainers, which were leter converted into Kamikaze aircraft in late 1944.

Comments: This aircraft sank more allied ships and more shear tonnage than any other Axis aircraft in WWII.
