Comments:
The Me 209 V1-V3 was designed as a racer, in fact, the V-1 held the absolute speed record for piston engined aircraft until 1969. The V-4 was a fighter prototype. V-5 was a new aircraft with the same 209 designation (sometimes referred to as the 209 II). The H model was designed for high altitude work but the program was cancelled after the prototype was completed.
